MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Despite an early equalizer from
Emma Goding, the RMU women's hockey team fell to Lindenwood, 5-1, after the Lions scored four unanswered goals. The Colonials now sit at 8-22-3 overall and 2-15-2 in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) play.
FIRST PERIOD
- Lindenwood struck first as Morgan Neitzke, the team's leading scorer, found the back of the net seven minutes into the game.
- RMU responded on the power play later in the period, as Emma Goding netted her fifth goal of the season off assists from Lindsey Smolen and Veronica Bac.
- The Colonials held an 11-7 shot advantage after 20 minutes.
SECOND PERIOD
- The Lions regained the lead early in the second period and added another goal late in the frame.
- RMU had three power-play opportunities but was unable to convert, while the Colonials successfully killed off two Lindenwood penalties.
THIRD PERIOD
- Lindenwood sealed the win with two more goals in the final frame, securing a 5-1 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- RMU outshot Lindenwood 32-25 and dominated the faceoff circle, winning 37 of 61 draws.
- Emma Goding led the team with five shots on goal.
- Janelle Evans was a force in the faceoff dot, winning 9 of 12 draws (.750).
- Captain Allyson Hebert recorded five blocked shots, surpassing 100 this season while continuing to lead the nation in that category.
- Goaltender Maggie Hatch finished the night with 20 saves.
