CINCINNATI, Oh. – RMU women's lacrosse fell on the road against Cincinnati in non-conference play, 18-4.
The Colonials now own a 1-1 record this season while the Bearcats picked up their first win to move to 1-2 this year.
1st HALF
The Colonials struck first at Nippert Stadium as
Eliana LaMange picked up her second goal of the season to give RMU a quick 1-0 lead. However, Cincinnati fought back and would score five unanswered goals to end the quarter. The Bearcats forced eight RMU turnovers in the frame which led to the quick strike goals.
The second quarter was much of the same as the Bearcats opened up the second quarter with two quick goals to increase their lead to six points. The Colonials got back on the board thanks to the LaMange sisters as Vivian passed to Eliana on a free position attempt that would end up taking a wild ricochet into the net. The momentum for RMU didn't hold up as the Bearcats would score four more goals to end the quarter as they would go to the break with a nine-point lead at 11-2.
2ND HALF
RMU still wasn't able to get on track as the Bearcats kept up their aggressive offensive approach with two quick goals. The Colonials kept fighting however as Mia Berthooff found
Amanda Dolis in front of the net to give RMU a boost on the scoreboard.
Katrina Bottomley checked in for her minutes of her career at goalie and had three saves in the frame. RMU would go to the final quarter trailing by 13.
There wasn't much scoring to be had on either side in the fourth quarter but the Bearcats did get on the board first a few minutes into the frame. RMU would add another goal thanks to
Jenna Irwin who tallied her first goal of the young season. The Colonials would add a few more shots on goal but would fall to Cincinnati, 18-4.
