EASTON, Pa. – The RMU women's lacrosse team fell on the road against Lafayette on Wednesday night, 12-10.
The Colonials are now 1-2 this season with four games remaining until MAC play begins.

The Leopards came out firing to start the quarter and had success doing so by scoring four goals on four shot attempts.
Jenna Irwin tallied her second goal of the season when she split the defense midway through the frame to make it a 2-1 game. Lafayette would end the quarter with two straight goals and owned a 4-1 advantage over RMU.
The second quarter was much of the same as the
Leopards scored twice to open the quarter to make it a 6-1 game. However, Gia Anthony got things rolling for the Colonials with her third tally of the season off a quick release from the top of the circle. Lafayette would get the last laugh in the quarter by scoring one more before the break. RMU went to the half with a five-goal deficit to overcome.
2ND HALF
Jenna Irwin was the impact performer for RMU tonight and it showed in this quarter as she scored three goals in the frame. Irwin got the quarter started off a slick shot off the assist from
Vivian LaMange. However, Lafayette answered every RMU goal with one of their own and had four tallies in the frame. Irwin continued to dominate scoring one goal of a free position and another off of a great individual play circling behind the net and quickly firing one past the Lafayette net minder. RMU would go to the fourth trailing by six goals.
The Colonials flipped a switch going to the final frame as they controlled the tempo along with most of the possessions, winning the draw control battle 5-2 in the quarter.
Samantha Brothers got it started with her first tally of the game at the 10-minute mark of the stanza. Lafayette responded with their lone goal of the frame but after that it was all Colonials with RMU scoring four straight goals. Irwin scored back-to-back goals for the Colonials followed by
Gia Anthony and
Vivian LaMange who helped shrink the Leopards lead to just two. However, there just wasn't enough time for RMU to complete the comeback and fell 12-10 at Lafayette.
