RMU Men’s Basketball Extends Winning Streak to Six Games After 72-59 Victory Over Milwaukee

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.  – The RMU Men's Basketball team (22-8, 14-5 HLMBB) extended its winning streak to six games—its 12th win in the last 13 contests—following a 72-59 wire-to-wire victory over Milwaukee (19-10, 12-6 HL) on Sunday afternoon at the UPMC Events Center. With the win, and Cleveland State's loss at Oakland, the Colonials move into sole possession of first place in the Horizon League, holding a half-game lead over the Vikings. The victory also marked RMU's 15th home win of the season, tying the program record.

Kam Woods played the entire 40 minutes, recording a double-double with 15 points, a career-high 11 assists, and eight rebounds. Alvaro Folgueiras added a double-double of his own with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
1st HALF
The half remained a one-possession battle until Folgueiras knocked down a three-pointer, followed by a Woods layup, giving RMU a 17-11 advantage at the midway point. Milwaukee responded as Faizon Fields converted back-to-back layups, and Themus Fulks followed with a pull-up jumper to tie the game at the 8:30 mark. The Colonials then went on a 9-0 run, sparked by two Folgueiras layups, an Amarion Dickerson three-pointer, and a layup that pushed the lead to 26-17. The Panthers answered by closing the half on a 9-2 run, cutting RMU's lead to 28-26 at the break.
2nd HALF
The Colonials came out strong in the second half, opening on a 20-9 run to extend their lead to 48-35 following a Folgueiras layup at the 12:11 mark. Milwaukee attempted to rally as Erik Pratt and Aaron Franklin hit back-to-back three-pointers, trimming the deficit to seven with 11:08 remaining. However, that was as close as the Panthers would get, as RMU maintained a double-digit lead for the final 7:43 of the game.
