MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. –
Amarion Dickerson broke his single-game school record with eight blocks, and all five starters scored in double figures as RMU secured a 71-56 victory over Detroit Mercy on Wednesday night at the UPMC Events Center.
1st HALF
The 1st half remained a two-possession game for the entire 20 minutes, featuring four ties and five lead changes. With the score knotted at 20-20 at the 4:59 mark, RMU scored seven of the final 10 points of the half, capped by
Ryan Prather Jr.'s 3-pointer, sending the Colonials into halftime with a 27-23 lead.
2nd HALF
RMU extended its lead to 41-34 at the 16:01 mark after an
Alvaro Folgueiras layup. However, Detroit Mercy responded with seven straight points to tie the game at 41-41 at 14:32. With the Colonials leading 55-52 at 7:57, they broke the game open with a 16-1 run over the next five minutes, building their largest lead of the game at 18 points (71-53) with 1:33 remaining.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dickerson previously set the school record with seven blocks on November 14 against Stonehill
- He also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds
- Folgueiras scored 16 points, Prather added 15, Kam Woods had 12, and DJ Smith contributed 10
- Woods recorded six assists
- Prather tied his career high with four 3-pointers
- UDM's Orlando Lovejoy scored 17 points with six assists—he had 32 points in the last meeting
UP NEXT
RMU hits the road for two games, beginning Saturday, February 8, at Northern Kentucky, followed by a matchup against Cleveland State on Wednesday, February 12. NKU (11-13, 6-7 HL) ended CSU's 11-game winning streak earlier tonight with an 85-75 victory. The Colonials return to the UPMC Events Center to host Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, February 15, for Senior Day.
