Colonials Fall on the Road Against Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. – The RMU women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference bout at Albany on Friday night,

The Colonials drop to 2-7 on the season as the Great Danes improve to 3-6 to begin their 2025 campaign.

1st HALF
There wasn't much action to begin the game with both teams not being able to find the net in the first five minutes of action. The Colonials jumped on the board first as Jenna Irwin made a nice cut move in front of the net for her 20th tally of the year. Unfortunately for RMU that was the last goal of the quarter as Albany six straight goals in a five-minute span. RMU would strike again as Irwin found the back of the net for a second time. The Great Danes closed the quarter with five more goals and an 11-2 lead.

Once again it was RMU who opened the quarter scoring as Mia Berthoff rifled home an unbelievable no look goal to get the Colonials back on the board. Albany responded with three straight goals and held RMU scoreless for 12 straight minutes. RMU went to the break trailing by 10 points.

2ND HALF
The Colonials didn't have much going in their favor during this frame as they were shutout for the first 11 minutes of action. Mia Berthoff broke the scoreless drought on a quick free-position shot followed by Samantha Brothers who had a slick turnaround goal. The Colonials went to the final quarter trailing 16-6.

The Colonials offensive woes continued into this frame as they didn't record a shot until the six-minute mark. Mia Berthoff capped off her best offensive day as she scored on another free-position shot for her first career hat trick. Albany scored two more goals and the Great Danes would go onto win 19-7.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
