MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU opened its Northeast Conference home schedule with a commanding 15-8 victory over Wagner on Saturday afternoon.
David Burr and Calum Brennan each scored three times, while Luke Prezioso, Kean Moon, and Nick Pelletier added two goals apiece. Nate Fechter made six saves for the Colonials (5-4, 2-0 NEC).
Danny McMahon recorded a hat trick for the Seahawks (0-9, 0-2 NEC).
1st Quarter
RMU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes with goals from Pelletier, Prezioso, and Moon. However, Wagner responded to tie the score at 3-3 by the end of the period.
2nd Quarter
The Seahawks took a 4-3 advantage before Moon's second goal evened the match. Brennan put RMU back in front, 5-4, at the 10:45 mark, but Wagner tied it again four minutes later. Burr gave the Colonials the lead at 5:50, followed by goals from Brennan, Bobby Reaume, and Prezioso to send RMU into halftime with a 9-5 advantage.
3rd Quarter
RMU extended its lead with three straight goals to open the third, as Brennan, Graeme MacLennan, and Bo Columbus each found the back of the net to make it 12-5. Pelletier added another goal before the end of the quarter, and the Colonials took a 13-8 lead into the final frame.
4th Quarter
Burr scored twice in the fourth, while the RMU defense held Wagner scoreless in the final period.
