MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's lacrosse team will hit the road for its second conference matchup of the season against Youngstown State. The game is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at 6:00 PM and will stream live on YouTube.
RMU LATELY
RMU (3-7, 1-0 #MAC) is coming off an overtime thriller, defeating Old Dominion 11-10 with eight seconds left in overtime.
Gia Anthony sealed the victory with her game-winning goal, while
Jenna Irwin led the offense with four goals and one assist.
Mia Berthoff (3g, 1a),
Vivian LaMange (2g, 1a), and Anthony (1g, 1a) all recorded multi-point performances. In goal,
Megan Shepley made five saves and collected a team-high four ground balls to secure her second win of the season.
Statistically, Irwin leads the team in goals (25), points (29), and draw controls (41). LaMange has dished out a team-high 18 assists, while Anthony boasts two game-winning goals. Freshman
Madison Prietz leads RMU in both ground balls (27) and caused turnovers (15).
ALL-TIME VS. YOUNGSTOWN STATE
RMU has enjoyed strong success against YSU, holding an 8-1 all-time record against the Penguins since 2021. Last season, the Colonials earned a 17-6 victory at Joe Walton Stadium, highlighted by
Colleen Tifft's eight-point performance (5g, 3a).
Chelsea Coleman added four goals and an assist, while Irwin tallied a hat trick with one assist and led the team with four ground balls.
Across nine meetings, RMU has scored a total of 152 goals, averaging 16.89 per game against YSU.
SCOUTING THE PENGUINS
YSU (5-5, 0-2 #MAC) enters the matchup seeking its first conference win of the season after back-to-back losses in MAC play—14-13 against Akron and 19-6 at Eastern Michigan.
Sophomore midfielder Katie Grottenthaler leads the Penguins in goals (29) and draw controls (52). Sophomore attacker Lena Cox owns a team-high 18 assists and leads the team in points (35). Grottenthaler and Brooke Peck each have two game-winning goals.
On the defensive end, sophomore Tori Bustamante has recorded 25 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers. In net, Brooke Harper has appeared in nine games, making 39 saves, while Liz Amos leads the team with three wins.
