MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Eleven RMU players scored, and the Colonials tied its best defensive effort of the season in their 14-4 victory over Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium. This match was RMU's Senior Day as the Class of 2025 was recognized in a postmatch ceremony.
Nick Pelletier scored three times and
Calum Brennan twice while
David Burr scored once and set up three goals.
Kean Moon assisted on three goals and
Luke Prezioso two for RMU (9-4, 6-0 NEC).
Nate Fechter made 10 saves in 51 minutes in net.
Creed McDonald scored once and added an assist for the Vikings (4-9, 2-4 NEC).
1st Quarter
RMU dominated the 1
st quarter, not allowing a goal while taking a 5-0 lead on tallies from
Gavin Pedone,
Joel McCormick,
Graeme MacLennan,
Nolan Barker and Pelletier.
2nd Quarter
Prezioso and
Dylan Wragg put the Colonials ahead 7-0 before CSU got on the scoreboard. Brennan's goal made the score 8-2 heading into halftime.
3rd Quarter
Pelletier (twice), Burr and
Tommy Mullikin scored in the 3
rd quarter to give RMU a 12-3 advantage going into the final stanza.
4th Quarter
Ryan Stiefel and Brennan were the goal scored in the 4
th quarter for the Colonials.
Inside the Numbers
- The victory today ties the program's second longest winning streak winning at six matches.
- The win, combined with LeMoyne's loss, puts RMU solely in first place in the NEC heading into the final weekend of play and earns the Colonials at least a share of the regular season title.
