MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's lacrosse team defeated Kent State on Senior Day at Joe Walton Stadium in triple overtime, 8-7.

Taylor Cadeau ripped home the game-winning goal in the third overtime while
Jenna Irwin tallied a team-high two goals against the Golden Flashes.

1st HALF
The Colonials got off to a quick start on the offensive side tallying the first two courtesy of
Vivian LaMange and
Mia Berthoff. However, the Golden Flashes battled back and would score three unanswered goals to end the quarter. RMU also had a game-high seven turnovers in the frame.
RMU would bounce back in a big way in the second quarter as there wasn't much action to start but the Colonials offense would soon take over.
Jenna Irwin made her presence felt with two straight free-position goals to make it a 4-3 RMU advantage midway through the frame. Kent State would tie the game at four at the 6:55 mark but Colonials freshman
Greta Burns stepped up in a big spot to answer with her second goal of the season. RMU went to the break holding a 5-4 advantage.

2ND HALF
There wasn't much action to be had to start the second half as both teams combined to have three shots on goal in the quarter. RMU's lone shot on goal came from
Samantha Brothers which turned into her 12
th goal of the year at the 9:55 mark. RMU would go to the fourth frame with a 6-4 lead over the Golden Flashes.
Both teams battled back and forth to start the stanza but it was the Colonials who would get on the board first thanks to
Jade Doldo who tallied her fifth goal of the year. Kent State stormed back and would once again score three unanswered goals to tie the game right before the end of regulation.
The Colonials and Golden Flashes would then head into overtime where both teams combined to have three shots on goal in the three overtime periods.
Sydney Riker made a couple of key saves for RMU in net within the first two overtime periods to keep the game tied at seven. It was senior
Taylor Cadeau who was the hero for RMU as she let a shot rip with 1:27 left in the third overtime that sent the Colonials home with a win.

POSTSEASON CLINCHED
With an RMU win and Detroit Mercy loss today the Colonials have now clinched a spot in the 2025 MAC Championships, which will begin in two weeks. The Colonials have one more conference game remaining at Akron next Sunday which will determine if Akron or RMU host the MAC Championships this season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Irwin led the Colonials with two goals on two free-position shots while RMU had six other players who scored one goal.
Sydney Riker had a dominant second half and finished the game with 13 saves which is the second-most all season for the senior goalkeeper.

The Colonials will play in their final non-conference game of the year when they host Mercyhurst next Wednesday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
