Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Colonials Fall at Home Against Central Michigan

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa - RMU women's lacrosse fell in a conference matchup at Joe Walton Stadium, 11-10.

The Colonials drop to 4-8, 2-1 while the Chippewas improve to 3-8, 2-2 as both teams have five games remaining this season.

1st HALF
The Colonials got their first opportunity of the game less than two minutes into the quarter as Jenna Irwin converted on a quick strike free-position attempt. However, Central Michigan would go on a 3-0 run and would hold RMU scoreless for the next eight minutes of action. Irwin would close the quarter on yet another free-position goal as RMU trailed CMU 3-2 heading to the second stanza.

The Chippewas had a strong offensive quarter as the visitors out shot RMU 11-3 in the second quarter. It was difficult for the Colonials to sustain possessions as Central Michigan had five draw controls in the quarter while RMU didn't have any. RMU's lone goal in the quarter came off the stick of Mia Berthoff as she drilled home a free-position attempt. RMU would trail CMU 6-3 at the break.

2ND HALF
RMU had a feel-good moment to start the half as freshman Greta Burns tallied her first career goal at the 11:13 mark of the frame. Unfortunately for RMU, the Chippewas would score the next two goals and hold a 8-4 advantage up until the end of the frame. RMU freshman Vivian LaMange would end the stanza on an incredible individual effort as she forced a turnover on CMU's goalkeeper Alexa Martel and picked up the ball and fired it to back of the net to give RMU some momentum.

The Colonials got off to a quick start to the frame as the home team tallied two out of the first three goals of the quarter. Mia Berthoff and Jenna Irwin each scored within two minutes apart as the duo would go onto score two goals each in the stanza. RMU never wavered despite the deficit as the Colonials nearly completed the comeback but fell at home 11-10 at Joe Walton Stadium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Jenna Irwin led the Colonials on the offensive front as she had four goals along with tow ground balls and two caused turnovers. RMU freshmen Mia Berthoff, Vivian LaMange, and Greta Burns combined for six goals to give RMU an offensive boost.
