RMU Women's Lacrosse Set to Battle Pitt at Joe Walton Stadium

RMU Game Notes 4/9

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's lacrosse team will look to bounce back in non-conference play when they host Pitt at Joe Walton Stadium on Wednesday night. The first draw is set for 6:00 p.m. and will be available for live streaming on ESPN+.
 
RMU LATELY
RMU (4-8, 2-1 #MAC) is fresh off a heartbreaking conference loss at home against Central Michigan, 11-10. Jenna Irwin led the Colonials on offense as she had five points off of four goals and one helper. Mia Berthoff had three goals and an assist while Vivian LaMange had two goals and a team-high two assists. RMU found themselves down 9-5 heading into the fourth quarter and almost pulled off a huge comeback win by outscoring the Chippewas 5-2 in the final frame.

Through 12 games, Jenna Irwin ranks fourth in the MAC with 31 goals, while Vivian LaMange leads the conference, averaging 1.83 assists per game. The Colonials are currently third in the MAC with a 2-1 conference record, trailing Detroit Mercy (5-6, 2-1) and Akron (8-5, 3-1).

ALL-TIME VS. PITT
This is only the second meeting between the two schools with the first matchup taking place last season when Pitt upended RMU, 19-2. Jenna Irwin and Chelsea Coleman were the lone goal scorers for RMU in the game last year as the Colonials were outshot 28-13 in the matchup.
 
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Pitt (6-7, 1-6 #ACC) is looking to rebound after suffering back-to-back conference losses against Duke and Boston College. The Panthers have been highly successful in non-conference play boasting a 5-1 record with their lone loss coming against Arizona State in February.
 
Senior attacker Jenna Hendrickson is the driving force on offense for Pitt as she has a team-high 36 goals and 45 points total.
 
On the defensive side, senior Jill Fenech leads the team with 20 caused turnovers which is also good for sixth in the ACC. In net, Molly Cain has started all 13 games for the Panthers and has a 6-7 record along with a .432 save percentage.

MIA IN MAC PLAY
RMU freshman midfielder Mia Berthoff has made a strong impact in conference play, ranking among the top in key categories through the first three games of the season. She currently leads the conference in both points (14) and assists (7), and ranks fourth in the MAC with six caused turnovers.

The Colonials will go back into conference play as they travel to play Detroit Mercy on Saturday afternoon. First draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
