Colonials Shut Out Bowling Green in Series Opener

DeVault throws 10 strikeouts; Brant hits 10th HR

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – RMU opened their series against Bowling Green with a decisive 6-0 victory, fueled by a strong offensive performance and a dominant pitching display from Madison DeVault. The Colonials now hold a 27-15 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game began as a pitcher's duel, with neither team scoring through the first three innings. DeVault was in command early, allowing only one hit through the first nine outs.

RMU's offense broke the stalemate in the top of the fourth. Anna Resnik started the rally with a single to center field, followed by a walk from Mary Brant.

With two outs, Jess Matheny delivered an RBI single to right field, scoring Resnik. Matheny then advanced to third on a steal and a subsequent throwing error by Bowling Green, allowing Brant to score and Sequoia Dunlap to reach base safely. Another Bowling Green error allowed Matheny to score, giving the Colonials a 3-0 lead.

The Colonials extended their lead in the top of the fifth. Kaylyn Hopf and Resnik each singled, setting the stage for Mary Brant, who blasted a three-run home run over the right field wall, making the score 6-0.

DeVault and the RMU defense maintained their strong performance, shutting down any comeback attempts from Bowling Green and securing the 6-0 victory.
