SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In its return to the Northeast Conference, the Robert Morris Colonials claimed the 2024 NEC Men's Lacrosse Championship, defeating Detroit Mercy 17–8 on Saturday at Ted Grant Field. With the win, RMU (11–5) secured its third NEC title and fourth NCAA Tournament berth in program history.
Tournament MVP
Calum Brennan led the way with four goals, while
Nick Pelletier contributed a game-high five points (2 goals, 3 assists). The Colonials also dominated at faceoff, where
Bo Columbus won 18 of 24 faceoffs and collected seven ground balls. Goalkeeper
Nate Fechter anchored the defense with 10 saves.
1st Quarter
Detroit Mercy struck first, but RMU responded with 10 unanswered goals. The opening burst featured tallies from
David Burr,
Brian Simmons,
Joel McCormick, and
Tommy Mullikin, ending the quarter with a 4–1 lead.
2nd Quarter
The onslaught continued as the Colonials built a 10–1 lead, fueled by goals from
Liam Keane,
Kean Moon, Brennan (2), Burr, and
Zach Tucker. After a brief UDM reply, Pelletier scored to push it to 11–2 before Detroit closed the half at 11–3.
3rd Quarter
Detroit Mercy showed life, outscoring RMU 4–1 in the third. Reaume netted the lone Colonial goal in the frame, and RMU took a 12–7 lead into the fourth.
4th Quarter
RMU slammed the door shut with three straight goals from Pelletier, Luke Perzioso, and Brennan. Late markers from Brennan and Moon sealed the 17–8 final.
