INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The RMU softball program has garnered significant recognition from the Horizon League, with an impressive eight Colonials earning All-League accolades for the 2025 season. This marks the most selections for any program in the conference and the most for RMU since joining the Horizon League in 2021.
Mary Brant was named Co-Freshman of the Year and also earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team. Highlighting the talent across the roster,
Courtney Poulich,
Anna Resnik, and
Madison DeVault were named to the All-League First Team, while
Kaylyn Hopf,
Alaina Koutsogiani,
Jess Matheny, and
Kaitlyn Molitoris earned All-League Second Team honors.
CO-FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Mary Brant, a native of Poland, Ohio, shares Freshman of the Year honors with Green Bay's Sara Ebner. Brant also secured a spot on the All-Freshman Team after a remarkable debut season. She led all conference freshmen in slugging percentage (.703), home runs (10), and RBI (36). In 41 games, Brant recorded a .352 batting average, a .411 on-base percentage, 45 hits, 28 runs, nine doubles, and three triples. Her clutch performances included two consecutive walk-off hits against NKU, earning her Horizon League Player of the Week honors.
ALL-LEAGUE FIRST TEAM
Redshirt junior outfielder
Courtney Poulich from Greensburg, Pa., earned a First Team selection after a dominant offensive season. Poulich currently leads the Horizon League in slugging percentage (.741), RBI (47), and home runs (12). She also ranks among the top three in runs scored (39) and triples (4), while batting .333 with a .409 on-base percentage and 45 hits. Poulich was a two-time Horizon League Player of the Week and was also named to the All-Academic Team.
Second baseman
Anna Resnik, a native of Elizabeth, Pa., earns her place on the First Team after being named to the Second Team last season. Resnik ranks second in the conference in runs (42), seventh in on-base percentage (.428), and eighth in both batting average (.346) and RBI (34). Defensively, she has been a steady force with a .978 fielding percentage and only three errors. Resnik was also a two-time Horizon League Player of the Week and received All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Pitcher
Madison DeVault from Dover, Ohio, also garnered First Team recognition, moving up from the Second Team last year. DeVault has had a standout season, leading the conference in ERA (2.48) and opposing batting average (.201). She also ranks third in wins (11), fourth in strikeouts (114), fifth in innings pitched (118.2), and sixth in earned runs allowed (42). DeVault started 21 games, pitching 14 complete games, two shutouts, and earning one save. She was a two-time Horizon League Pitcher of the Week.
ALL-LEAGUE SECOND TEAM
Sophomore leadoff hitter
Kaylyn Hopf from Pataskala, Ohio, earned Second Team honors after being named to the All-Freshman team last year. Hopf led the Colonials with a .383 batting average, which ranks fourth in the Horizon League. She also ranks fifth in hits (54) and on-base percentage (.439), and sixth in runs scored (33), while tallying 17 RBI, nine doubles, two triples, and 10 stolen bases.
Senior
Alaina Koutsogiani, a native of Peters Township, Pa., was also named to the Second Team after being on the All-Freshman team in 2022. Koutsogiani ranks second in the conference in stolen bases (21) and seventh in runs scored (31). She is hitting .312 with a .358 on-base percentage, recording 31 hits, 13 RBI, four doubles, one triple, and three home runs. Defensively, she has a .916 fielding percentage at third base with 69 assists, ranking sixth in the Horizon League.
Senior
Jess Matheny from Connellsville, Pa., earns her first All-League honor with a Second Team selection. Matheny has been a key contributor to the Colonials' lineup, ranking fourth in the conference in RBI (37), fifth in home runs (6), and ninth in slugging percentage (.540). The outfielder is hitting .298 with a .348 on-base percentage, collecting 37 hits, 28 runs, 10 doubles, and one triple.
Sophomore pitcher
Kaitlyn Molitoris, a native of McKees Rocks, Pa., was also named to the Second Team after being on the All-Freshman Team in 2024. Molitoris ranks second in opposing batting average (.220), fourth in ERA (3.67), and fourth in wins (9). Her 29 earned runs allowed and 44 hits allowed are the fewest among Horizon League pitchers.
