BLACKSBURG, Va. – The RMU Volleyball team fell to Marshall and Virginia Tech in Day 1 of Hokie Invitational.
MARSHALL 3, RMU 0
Marshall took the opening match of the afternoon, winning in straight sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-16).
Tia Schultz led the Colonials with six kills.
Jasmine Purakal led the team with 13 digs, and
Kaitlyn Brown recorded 14 assists.
VIRGINIA TECH 3, RMU 0
Virginia Tech closed out the evening with a straight sets win (25-20, 25-18, 25-21).
The opening set was a back-and-forth battle, featuring 12 ties and seven lead changes before the Hokies pulled away for a 25-22 win. After Virginia Tech took the second set 25-18, Robert Morris challenged the Hokies in the third frame. After 11 ties and six lead changes, VT took the set 25-21.
The Colonials were led by a 15-kill performance from
Jocelyn Jourdan and a double-double from
Kaitlyn Brown with 27 assists and 11 digs.

RMU closes out the event with a noon start against UMES. The Hawks (1-7) have lost six straight including matches against Marshall and Virginia Tech.
