LORETTO, Pa. – The RMU women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw on the road against Saint Francis on Sunday afternoon. With the result, the Colonials move to 2-3-1 to begin the 2025 campaign.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After both teams exchanged early chances through the opening 25 minutes, RMU began to settle in and control the pace of the match.
The Colonials closed out the first half strong, recording five shots on goal and earning two corner kicks in the final 15 minutes. Despite the pressure, they entered halftime still searching for the opening goal.
RMU continued to push in the second half, controlling possession and generating several quality
opportunities.
Julia Becerra and
Malia Kearns each came close to scoring, with their shots narrowly missing by hitting the side of the net.
In the closing minutes, the Colonials created one final surge with a shot that went just wide and another corner kick but ultimately had to settle for a draw.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Statistically, RMU dominated the match. The Colonials outshot Saint Francis 17-8 and placed eight shots on goal, while the Red Flash failed to register a single shot on target. It marked the first time in program history that RMU did not allow an opponent a single shot on goal in a match. The Colonials also held a slight edge in possession with 53 percent and earned six corner kicks compared to three for Saint Francis.

Ava Trethewey, and
Julia Becerra all playing the full 90 minutes.
COLONIAL FIRST
Although goalkeeper
Abbey Cowles did not face a shot, she recorded her first clean sheet of the season and the seventh shutout of her career in her season debut.

RMU will conclude its non-conference schedule on Thursday, September 11, with a road matchup at UMBC. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
