FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Despite leading going into the fourth quarter, RMU fell to Purdue Fort Wayne 60-46 after a big 23-point fourth quarter by the Mastodons on Tuesday night.
FIRST QUARTER
- The Colonials started the game with a quick 6-0 run, forcing the Mastodons to call a timeout with 5:38 on the clock.
- Baskets by Bailey Kuhns and Markeli Jones-Tynes made the score 12-5 in favor of RMU.
- Eva Levingston closed out the quarter with a buzzer-beater to make it 16-9 going into the second quarter.
- Colonials shot 61.5% from the floor in the first quarter while holding the Mastodons to just 26.7% shooting.
SECOND QUARTER
- A 6-0 run by the Mastodons cut the Colonials lead down to just two as a layup by Avery Wagner at 5:01 made the score 19-17.
- The Colonials extended their lead back up to four before another 6-0 run by Purdue Fort Wayne gave the Mastodons their first lead of the game, 23-21, with 1:58 to go.
- Back-to-back layups by Myriam Traore gave the Colonials back the lead with RMU up 25-23 going into the half.
THIRD QUARTER
- RMU got on the board first in the third quarter on a layup by Kuhn's before the Mastodons got back-to-back baskets to tie the game back up at 27-27 with 8:14 to go.
- The Colonials went up 38-34 following back-to-back baskets by RMU with 2:56 on the clock.
- RMU closed out the quarter up 40-37 following a driving layup from Ava Leroux to give the Colonials the lead going into the final 10 minutes.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Mastodons tied the game back up early in the fourth quarter as Alana Nelson made a layup and Lauren Lee hit a free-throw to make it 40-40 with 9:18 to go.
- A huge 12-0 run by the Mastodons quickly flipped the script as Purdue Fort Wayne led by 10 with 5:18 on the clock, their biggest lead of the contest.
- Purdue Fort Wayne closed out the game on an 8-2 run, limiting the Colonials to just 6 points in the final quarter to secure the 60-46 win.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Eva Levingston (13) and
Myriam Traore (12) led the offense attack for the Colonials as well as on the boards, with Traore pulling down a team-high seven while Levingston had six rebounds.
Bailey Kuhns was the next highest scorer with eight points, along with five rebounds.
The Colonials shot 32.8% in the contest while Purdue Fort Wayne shot 45.8%. RMU held a slight advantage on the board, beating the Mastodons on the glass 37-36.

With the loss, the Colonials fall to 14-7 overall and 7-5 in Horizon League play. RMU will close out its three-game road stretch with a matchup against IU Indy in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+
