Prather Paces RMU Men’s Basketball to 74-58 Victory Over IU Indy

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.Ryan Prather Jr. scored a game-high 20 points, hitting four 3-pointers and adding four assists to lead Robert Morris to a 74-58 victory over IU Indy on Wednesday night at the UPMC Events Center.

Darius Livingston added 14 points and Ta'Zir Smith contributed 11 points and three steals. DeSean Goode scored nine points while securing eight rebounds and recording two steals. Nikolaos Chitikoudis dominated the boards, collecting 11 rebounds and scoring nine points. This contributed to RMU's +17 rebound edge, their second-highest margin this season. The Colonial defense's 58 points allowed marks the lowest allowed by RMU for a Horizon League opponent this season.

Micah Davis led IU Indy with 18 points, shooting 7-of-14 from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc while also contributing two steals and four assists. The Jaguars played without Kyler D'Augustino, who had scored 28 points against RMU on Jan. 15.

1st HALF
RMU opened the game making five straight field goals and six of its first seven attempts. Despite the efficient start, the Colonials could not build a significant lead, holding a 16–15 edge at the under-12 media timeout. RMU saw IU Indy take a 20–19 lead following a Micah Davis jumper at the 8:37 mark, triggering a stretch that saw the teams trade three leads and three ties. The Colonials regained the lead when Ta'Zir Smith's 3-pointer with 2:09 remaining broke a 33–33 tie; it proved to be the final field goal of the half, giving RMU a 36–33 lead at halftime.

2nd HALF
The Colonials extended the lead early in the second half as a Kaleb Brown layup and a Goode 3-pointer put RMU up 41–33. The lead reached double digits for the first time at the 12:40 mark when the Colonials got a 3-pointer from Livingston to make it 56–45. RMU then used an 18–5 run, capped by a Prather 3-pointer, to build a 74–56 advantage heading into the under-4 media timeout.

UP NEXT
The Colonials conclude the month of January on the road at Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, Jan. 31, with tipoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Following that road trip, RMU returns to the UPMC Events Center on Wednesday, Feb. 4, to host Wright State. That matchup against the Raiders has been selected for a national television broadcast on ESPNU and is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
