FORT WAYNE, Ind.  — The Horizon League's leading scorer Corey Hadnot II scored a game-high 21 points to lead Purdue Fort Wayne to an 83-71 victory over Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Colonials fall to 14-10 (6-7 HL) while PFW  improves to 14-9 (8-4 HL).

Hadnot converted 8-of-17 field goal attempts and 2-of 5-from beyond the arc. He also added seven rebounds and four assists. DeAndre Craig scored 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting and added five rebounds. Mikale Stevenson recorded four steals and added 12 points and three assists. Maximus Nelson contributed 14 points, converting 3-of-6 three-point attempts, and recorded two rebounds.

1st HALF
The game opened with consecutive 3-pointers from Vargas. Purdue Fort Wayne responded with a 10-2 run until a dunk by Josh Hill tied the game at 10-10. A Hadnot 3-pointer initiated a 16-7 stretch that gave the Mastodons a 26-17 lead with 7:59 remaining. While PFW held a nine-point advantage with 4:26 left in the half, the Colonials' defense prevented any further field goals through the rest of the period. This allowed RMU to complete a 13-2 run, with seven of those points coming from Prather, and enter halftime with a 37-35 lead.

2nd HALF
RMU did not record a field goal in the second half until the 16:06 mark, when a Chitikoudis layup ended a 10-0 run that had given Purdue Fort Wayne a 47-41 lead. The Colonials later narrowed the deficit to four points following a driving layup by Ta'Zir Smith at 14:22. However, a pull-up jumper by Craig gave the Mastodons their first double-digit lead of the game, 60-49, with 8:52 remaining. While back-to-back 3-pointers from Kaleb Brown and Vargas cut the lead to 60-55 at the 7:22 mark, the Mastodons pulled away after an exchange of baskets. Purdue Fort Wayne eventually extended its lead to 15 points in the final two minutes.

HEAD COACH ANDY TOOLE
"Being able to sustain your effort and show up every day is something that we've got to get better at. All these games are hard to win. Can we rally? Can we fight back? Some of that comes down to ball security. We weren't able to do something that changes the outcome or the momentum of the game today."

UP NEXT
RMU returns to the UPMC Events Center on Wednesday, Feb. 4, to host Wright State in a matchup selected for national television on ESPNU at 7 p.m. Following that contest, the Colonials hit the road for back-to-back games at Youngstown State on Feb. 7 and Cleveland State on Feb. 12.
