Haggard Named NEC Offensive Player of the Week, Carter and Dickson Tabbed Prime Performers

SOMERSET, N.J. – RMU sophomore quarterback Carson Haggard was named the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Offensive Player of the Week Monday, earning the honor for the second consecutive week.
 
Haggard delivered a career performance Saturday in RMU's 33-31 victory over Norfolk State, setting career highs in passing yards and completions while leading the Colonials to their third win of the season.
 
The Miami, Fla. native threw for a career-high 296 yards and four touchdowns against the Spartans. Haggard completed 20-of-28 passes for a career-best 71.4 completion percentage and threw a touchdown in each quarter.
 
Haggard saved his biggest playmaking for the final minutes, leading RMU on a five-play, 72-yard drive with two minutes remaining. The drive culminated in a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jaqai Carter with 42 seconds remaining, giving the Colonials the lead for good.
 
Through five games this season, Haggard has completed 84 passes for 1,068 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was also named an NEC Prime Performer.
 
RMU linebacker Amanuel Dickson and wide receiver Jaqai Carter were also recognized as NEC Prime Performers.
 
Dickson earned the honor for the second consecutive week after leading the Colonials with 11 total tackles and seven solo stops against Norfolk State. He also recorded a pass breakup.
 
Over his last two games, Dickson has totaled 29 tackles, including 19 solo tackles, and an interception.
 
Carter enjoyed a career day in Saturday's victory, hauling in three touchdown passes while setting career highs with nine receptions and 171 receiving yards.
 
Through five games, Carter has produced 23 receptions for 317 yards and five touchdowns.
