MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team dropped its second consecutive game, falling to Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon, with the Colonials dropping the contest 57-52 in Moon Township
FIRST QUARTER
- The Colonials opened up the game with a layup from Bailey Kuhns before Cleveland State answered back with a layup of their own.
- A three-pointer by Cleveland State's Paule Pique made it 9-8 with the Colonials leading by one with 5:03 left in the first quarter.
- RMU closed out the first quarter up 13-10 after Kuhns hit a pair of free throws to give the Colonials the lead going into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
- A Myriam Traore basket put the Colonials up by five to begin the second quarter before a 5-0 run by the Vikings knotted the contest up at 15-15 with 7:46 on the clock.
- Over the final six minutes of the half, both teams put up eight points, with Cleveland State tying the game up at 23-23 on a layup with 30 seconds left in the half.
- In the second quarter, the Colonials went 5-for-11 from the floor, shooting 45.5% while the Vikings shot 40%, going 4-for-10.
THIRD QUARTER
- Cleveland State attacked first in the second half, getting a layup from Izabella Zingaro to go up on top of the Colonials 25-23 before Eva Levingston answered back with a layup of her own to tie the game back up.
- Cleveland State put together a 7-0 run, featuring five points from Colbi Maples, to go up 40-33 over the Colonials before a made free throw by Levingston ended the run with RMU trailing 40-34 with 2:03 left in the third quarter.
- Following Levingston's made free throw, the Vikings closed out the quarter on a 4-0 run, leading RMU by 10 going into the final quarter with Cleveland State up 44-34.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Colonials put together back-to-back baskets from Kuhns and Levingston to cut the Vikings' lead down to seven, with Cleveland State leading 45-38 with 7:44 on the clock.
- A 6-0 run by the Colonials, highlighted by five points from Traore, including a made three, cut Cleveland State's lead down to just three with RMU trailing 53-50 with 53 seconds to go.
- The Vikings put up four unanswered points to go up by seven before the Colonials closed out the game with a pair of made free throws to make the final score 57-52 after an unsuccessful comeback.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Myriam Traore led the Colonials' offense with 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting, while
Bailey Kuhns recorded 13 points. Traore also recorded five rebounds, one assist, and two blocks.
Eva Levingston led the Colonials on the glass, recording a team-high 10 rebounds along with 13 points to notch a double-double on the night. Levingston also recorded three assists, two steals, and a block on the afternoon.
On the afternoon, RMU shot 38% while Cleveland State shot 44.7%. The Colonials were 19-for-50 from the floor. From beyond the arc, RMU went just 2-for-12 on the afternoon.
Colbi Maples led Cleveland State with 17 points while Izabella Zingaro recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
