OLEAN, N.Y. — Robert Morris (1-3) fell to St. Bonaventure University (2-1) 14-11 at Marra Complex on Tuesday.
Calum Brennan scored two goals on four shots, converting both of his attempts on target.
Luis Gonzalez also netted two unassisted goals, while
Ben Eck contributed a goal and two assists.
Cristian Davis controlled possession for the Colonials, winning 15 faceoffs and picking up eight ground balls.
Cole Kucinski led St. Bonaventure with four goals. Patrick Shanahan scored three goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist.
First Quarter
The Colonials faced difficulties in the opening quarter, struggling with turnovers and clearing attempts. Despite winning three faceoffs, they committed six turnovers, which allowed the Bonnies to capitalize on possession and gain the upper hand. The Colonials managed to score once through
Joel McCormick at 5:29, but the Bonnies' efficient clearing and two goals from Chris Lawrence and Jonas Johnson helped them take a 3-1 lead by the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter
Robert Morris and the Bonnies each found the net twice in the second quarter. The Colonials capitalized on a turnover caused by
Mac Link, leading to a goal by
Graeme MacLennan at 13:02, assisted by Eck. Despite Kucinski scoring twice, the Colonials answered with a goal from Brennan at 6:24, also assisted by Eck. The half concluded with a 5-3 advantage for St. Bonaventure.
Third Quarter
The third quarter saw the Colonials and St. Bonaventure trading goals to keep the score tight. The Colonials responded quickly to the Bonnies' early goal with scores by Brennan at 13:05 and Gonzalez at 10:49, leveling the score at 6-6. However, St. Bonaventure capitalized on their opportunities late in the quarter, with goals from Lawrence at 2:59 and Tropea at 1:23, to edge ahead 8-6 by the end of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
St. Bonaventure outscored the Colonials 6-5 in the fourth quarter. The Colonials opened the scoring with a goal from Eck at 12:49, assisted by McCormick, but the Bonnies quickly responded with Kucinski's ninth goal of the season. Despite being down a man, the Colonials continued to press, with
Elijah Edwards finding the net at 6:55 during an extra-man opportunity following a penalty on St. Bonaventure. The Colonials showed resilience by scoring twice in the last two minutes, with goals from
Gavin Pedone and Gonzalez.
