OLEAN, N.Y. – An 11-4 loss to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday afternoon dropped the RMU women's lacrosse team to 2-3 to begin the 2026 season.
FIRST HALF
St. Bonaventure found the back of the net first, picking up the first two goals of the contest, first at 12:40 then again at 11:05 to take a quick lead. The Colonials broke through at 8:13 with
Greta Burns scoring a man-up goal off a pass from
Lea Otts to cut the Bonnies' lead down to just one. St. Bonaventure closed out the first quarter with two back-to-back goals to lead 4-1.
The second quarter started out with a
Taylor Cadeau goal at 12:20 for her third goal of the season. Otts picked up her second assist of the contest on Cadeau's goal, which made the score 4-2 in favor of the Bonnies. The Bonnies picked up their fifth goal of the game at 11:24 before
Taylor Burkett struck for the Colonials at 3:36, finding the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season off a pass from
Julia Foley. A pair of goals in the final two minutes of the half by St. Bonaventure made it 7-3 at the end of the second quarter.
SECOND HALF
A free position goal by
Madison Prietz marked her fourth goal of the season while cutting the Bonnies' lead down to three before St. Bonaventure answered back 10 seconds later to make it 8-4 with 12:39 left in the third quarter. The Bonnies notched one more third-quarter goal to extend their lead to six, leading 9-4 going into the final 15 minutes.
The Colonial offense was held scoreless in the final frame while the Bonnies recorded two goals over the final 11 minutes of the contest to secure an 11-4 win over the Colonials.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Four different Colonials scored on the afternoon, with
Greta Burns,
Taylor Cadeau,
Madison Prietz, and
Taylor Burkett all finding the back of the net for RMU.
Lea Otts recorded two assists in the contest, assisting on Burns and Cadeau's goals, while
Julia Foley recorded the third assist for the Colonials on Burkett's goal. Multiple Colonials recorded two ground balls on the afternoon, with RMU totaling 14 ground balls on the afternoon. RMU as a team recorded 15 shots with seven coming on goal.
Katrina Bottomley was tagged with the loss in goal, allowing nine goals while making six saves.
Lucy Carney came on in relief for the final twenty minutes of the contest, allowing only two goals while making three saves.
For St. Bonaventure, Brook Piper led the offensive attack, recording a hat trick along with two assists in the win. Goalkeeper Judy Mahoney earned the win, allowing four goals while recording four saves.
