RMU Men’s Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight After 11-6 Victory Over Detroit Mercy in NEC Opener

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Robert Morris opened NEC play with an 11-6 victory over Detroit Mercy on Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium. The win marks the Colonials' fifth consecutive victory and improves their perfect home record to 4-0 this season.
 
Dylan Anderson led the offensive effort with three goals on nine shots, six of which were on target, while Ben Eck netted the game-winning goal. Nate Fechter was solid in net, making nine saves on 22 shots faced. Cristian Davis controlled the face-off circle, winning 10 of 19 faceoffs.
 
First Quarter
After the Titans took an early lead with a goal by Andrew Parker at 13:58, the Colonials responded with a Korner Marechek equalizer at 9:45. Luke Prezioso followed with a goal at 5:33 to push the Colonials ahead. Anderson, assisted by Joel McCormick, extended the lead to 3–1 at the 1:00 mark. However, Detroit Mercy's Marcus Thundercloud scored with one second remaining to end the quarter with RMU leading 3–2.
 
Second Quarter
RMU went ahead 4–2 at 13:34 when Anderson scored off an assist from Calum Brennan. Capitalizing on a Titans slashing penalty, Nolan Barker added a man-up goal at 12:54, assisted by McCormick. Ryan Stiefel further extended the advantage at 9:10 on an assist from Prezioso. Although Detroit Mercy's Parker responded at 4:04, RMU maintained control as Eck netted a goal at 1:21 to sent the teams into halftime with RMU leading 7–3.
 
Third Quarter
RMU continued to pull away in the third, starting with a goal from Brennan at 10:27, assisted by Stiefel. Anderson added his third of the day at 4:55 via a Tommy Linehan assist to make it 9–4. Brennan struck again with 1:20 remaining on a McCormick assist. Despite a late goal from Detroit Mercy's O'Hanlon, RMU ended the frame with a commanding 10–5 lead.
 
Fourth Quarter
RMU maintained its pace in the final period, with McCormick scoring at 7:37 to extend the lead to 11–5. Thundercloud closed out the scoring for the Titans during an extra-man opportunity, resulting in the 11–6 final.
