CLEVELAND — Calum Brennan scored five goals on nine shots to lead Robert Morris (7-3, 2-0 NEC) to an 11-6 victory over Cleveland State (3-5, 1-1 NEC) on Saturday at Krenzler Field. The win marks the sixth consecutive victory for the Colonials.
Luke Prezioso recorded three goals, while
Tommy Linehan scored the game-winner.
Dylan Anderson and
Liam Blakely also scored for RMU. Defensively,
Nate Fechter made 15 saves and
Callum Witter caused three turnovers. Blakely led the team with five ground balls, followed by
Owen Tapper with four.
Xander Johnson led the Vikings with two goals and one assist. In goal, Oliver Vanyo recorded 13 saves for CSU.
First Quarter
The Vikings took the lead at 13:34 on a goal by Creed McDonald. RMU tied the game at 4:41 when Witter assisted Prezioso. Anderson then scored on a man-up opportunity at 3:32 to give the Colonials a 2–1 lead. Johnson leveled the score with a man-up goal at 0:18, ending the period tied 2–2.
Second Quarter
The Colonials took control in the second quarter, scoring five goals. Brennan scored at 6:17 and 2:42, and completed a hat trick at 1:21. Prezioso and Linehan also found the net to give RMU a 7–2 halftime lead.
Third Quarter
The Vikings scored three goals in the third period. Adam Van Voorhis and Landon Whalen scored early, and Ethan Erker added a goal at 3:07 to cut into the lead. Brennan stopped the run with a goal at 0:41, leaving CSU trailing 8–5 entering the final frame.
Fourth Quarter
RMU extended the lead with goals from Blakely at 10:18 and Brennan at 10:07. While Johnson scored for the Vikings at 8:36, Prezioso added a final goal with 49 seconds remaining to secure the 11–6 result.
