MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – MAC action is returning to Joe Walton Stadium as the RMU women's lacrosse team (3-7, 1-1 MAC) hosts UMass (7-2, 2-0 MAC) on Saturday afternoon. First draw is set for noon in Moon Township.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials most recently suffered a 20-2 setback at #13 Notre Dame on Tuesday night, falling to the Fighting Irish in South Bend.
In the loss,
Jade Doldo and
Gabi Puzevic recorded the long goals for the Colonials, with both scoring their eighth goal of the season. Doldo has scored in four straight games for RMU.
Jenna Evans filled the stat sheet for the Colonials, leading the team in draw controls (2), groundballs (3), and recorded four of the team's seven caused turnovers.
As a team, the Colonials have posted 65 goals on the season, averaging 6.50 per game, which is ranked fifth best in the conference. Despite not posting a goal in two games,
Mia Berthoff remains the leading scorer for the Colonial offense, with 20 goals on the season, averaging 2.00 per game, which ranks ninth in the conference. The Colonials currently have a .359 shot percentage and a .696 shots-on-goal percentage through 10 games this season.
RMU AND UMASS HISTORY
Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting between the pair, with the 2026 season marking the first year that UMass will be in the MAC after previously being a part of the A-10 conference since 1999.
SCOUTING UMASS
The Minutewomen have found success thus far since joining the MAC, with UMass posting a 7-2 overall record and remaining a perfect 2-0 in conference play. The Minutewomen picked up conference wins over Youngstown State and Central Michigan, beating the Penguins 21-3 and the Chippewas 22-1.
In MAC statistics, the Minutewomen lead the conference in multiple categories, including goals per game (15.67), points per game (25.22), assists per game (9.56), shots per game (34.78), shots on goal per game (24.33), and woman-up goals per game (2.36).
Offensively, the Minutewomen have been led by Kassidy Morris, who is second in the conference in goals per game, averaging 3.78 and totaling 34 on the season in nine games played. Also in the top-10 for goals per game is Dylan Lyons, who is seventh in the conference with 2.22 goals per game (20 total), and Ava Connaughton, who is tenth in the MAC, averaging 1.89 per game and totaling 17 on the season.
CONFERENCE OUTLOOK
Three teams remain perfect in conference play with UMass, Akron, and Eastern Michigan all 2-0. UMass leads the conference with an overall record of 7-2, while Akron is 7-3, and Eastern Michigan is 7-4. The Colonials sit in fourth with its 1-1 MAC record and 3-7 overall record, while Youngstown State sits close behind with a 1-1 conference record and a 1-9 overall record. Kent State, Central Michigan, and Detroit Mercy are all still looking for their first conference win of the season, while Kent State is 5-5 overall, Central Michigan is 1-9, and Detroit Mercy is 0-7.
