RMU Women's Lacrosse Returns Home for Contest Against Binghamton

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's lacrosse team will return home to Joe Walton Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference matchup against the Binghamton Bearcats at 3:00 p.m.
 
RMU LATELY
The Colonials will welcome Binghamton to Moon Township with a 2-4 record after going 0-2 last week, suffering losses to St. Bonaventure and Ohio State.
 
RMU opened up last week with a Wednesday afternoon loss to St. Bonaventure, dropping the road contest 11-4. In the loss, four different Colonials scored on the afternoon, with Greta Burns, Taylor Cadeau, Madison Prietz, and Taylor Burkett all finding the back of the net for RMU.
 
Against Ohio State, Mia Berthoff recorded all three goals for the Colonials in the 17-3 loss. This marked Berthoff's fourth hat trick of the season, with Berthoff now recording 16 goals on the season. Berthoff is ranked fifth in the conference in goals per game (2.67) and seventh in points per game (3.50)
 
The Colonials have put up 42 goals on the season, led by Berthoff with 16. RMU is averaging 18.3 shots per game and has taken 110 on the season, with 69 coming on goal (.682). Two Colonials have seen action in the net with Katrina Bottomley starting in goal for all six of RMU's contests. Bottomley has recorded 42 saves on the season while allowing 56 goals with a 1-4 record on the season. Coming in relief has been Lucy Carney, who has made three appearances on the season, allowing 14 goals while recording 11 saves. Carney is 0-1 on the year.
 
RMU AND BINGHAMTON HISTORY
Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting between the teams. Against current American East teams, the Colonials are 5-9 all-time, having played UMBC, UAlbany, and Bryant.
 
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON
The Bearcats are 2-5 to start the young season, with Binghamton on a three-game losing streak entering their matchup with the Colonials. This will be just the second road game of the season for the Bearcats, with Binghamton securing a 16-13 win over Colgate back on February 21.
 
In its most recent matchup, Binghamton fell to Cornell University 13-7 on Tuesday afternoon. For the Bearcats, Carla Curth led the offensive attack, recording four goals for Binghamton, while Emma Blloshmi recorded two and Christina Lauro recorded one. In goal, Emily Backlin and Maeve Sayre split time in goal, with Backlin being tagged with the loss, allowing six goals. Sayre came on in relief, allowing seven goals while recording seven saves in nearly 50 minutes in goal.
 
The Bearcats have recorded 66 goals on the season, with Blloshmi leading the way with 19, while Curth has recorded 14. Binghamton has taken 167 shots, averaging 23.9 per game, with 86 of their 167 shots coming on goal (.695).
