MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The stage is set in Indianapolis for a high-stakes rematch as No. 2 seed Robert Morris (22–10) takes on No. 3 seed Detroit Mercy (16–14) in the Horizon League semifinals. Both teams enter the Monday night clash on fire: the Colonials have won eight straight games, while the Titans have won eight of their last ten. The game will be broadcast live on Monday, March 9, at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2, with Jordan Bernfield and Randolph Childress on the call from the Corteva Coliseum.
RMU LATELY
Robert Morris punched its ticket to the Horizon League semifinals in Indianapolis for the second consecutive year, suffocating Youngstown State in a 68–53 victory before a home crowd of 3,537. The win, RMU's eighth straight, was fueled by a stellar defensive performance that held the Penguins to just 32.1% shooting from the field.
Ryan Prather Jr. paced the offense with 24 points and five triples, while
DeSean Goode anchored the interior with a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double.
DETROIT MERCY LATELY
Detroit Mercy defeated Milwaukee 84–63 in the First Round of the Horizon League Championship Wednesday night at Calihan Hall, fueled by an aggressive offensive attack that featured five Titans in double figures. Sophomore TJ Nadeau led the charge with 17 points and six rebounds, while Tyler Spratt and Orlando Lovejoy followed closely with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
RMU AND DETROIT MERCY HISTORY
The programs first met in 2009 at the 2K Sports Classic in Albany, N.Y., but did not play again until Robert Morris joined the Horizon League in 2021. Although Detroit Mercy leads the all-time series 7–6, Robert Morris has won six of the last seven matchups.
This semifinal matchup marks only the second postseason meeting between Robert Morris and Detroit Mercy since the Colonials joined the conference. Their first and only Horizon League Championship encounter took place in 2021 during RMU's inaugural year in the league, resulting in an 83–73 Titans victory at Calihan Hall.
RMU AND DETROIT MERCY LAST TIME OUT
Behind a career-high 29 points from
Ryan Prather Jr., including a dominant 26-point second half, Robert Morris defeated Detroit Mercy 73–62 to secure their sixth straight win and a second consecutive 20-win season on Feb. 25. The Colonials recorded double-doubles from both
DeSean Goode (14 points, 12 rebounds) and
Nikolaos Chitikoudis (13 points, 12 rebounds) to control the interior. Despite a 19-point effort from the Titans' Orlando Lovejoy, RMU's balanced attack and
Darius Livingston's six assists proved too much for Detroit Mercy to overcome.
ALL-LEAGUE REPRESENTATION
On March 2, the Horizon League announced that
DeSean Goode is Player of the Year as part of its 2025-26 postseason honors. In addition to the league's top individual award, Goode earned a spot on the All-League First Team. He is joined in the conference recognition by teammate
Ryan Prather Jr., an All-League Second Team selection, and
Darius Livingston, who was named to the All-Freshman Team. Rounding out the awards for the Colonials,
Nikolaos Chitikoudis earned a position on the All-Defensive Team.
