YPSILANTI, Mich. – The RMU women's lacrosse team (4-11, 2-4 MAC) suffered a 13-3 conference road loss to Eastern Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
FIRST HALF
The first 15 minutes of play was a defensive battle as each team was only able to post one goal in the first quarter. The Colonials broke through with 6:43 on the clock as
Mia Berthoff found
Taylor Cadeau for a woman-up goal to give the Colonials the lead. With 1:43 on the clock, Eastern Michigan tied the contest at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Emerson Henry to round out the first quarter scoring. The Eagles outshot RMU 10-5 in the first frame.
Similar to the first quarter, the second quarter was also a low-scoring affair for both teams, each putting up two goals. The Colonials put together back-to-back goals at 14:21 and 9:56 to take a 3-1 lead.
Gabi Puzevic struck first unassisted, followed up by
Lea Otts, whose goal was also unassisted. The Eagles would answer back with a 2-0 run of their own to close out the second half tied at 3-3.
SECOND HALF
The second half would be all Eastern Michigan as the Eagles' offense exploded for 10 unanswered goals, scoring five in each of the final two quarters to secure the 13-3 conference win over RMU. The Colonials were limited to just six shots over the third and fourth quarters, with only two coming on goal. Turnovers would prove costly as RMU committed 14 turnovers in the second half.
THE CONTROLLER
Coming into the contest, sophomore
Madison Prietz was just one draw control away from 100 career draw controls. With 6:42 left in the fourth quarter, Prietz secured the draw control after an Eastern Michigan goal to reach the milestone.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Taylor Cadeau, and
Lea Otts all scored a goal apiece for the Colonials.
Mia Berthoff finished the day off with an assist, a team-high three draw controls, along with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Leading RMU defensively was
Anabel Kreydt, who recorded a team-high four caused turnovers along with two ground balls.
Lucy Carney was tagged with the loss, posting eight saves while allowing 13 goals. Carney is now 3-6 on the year and is nearing 100 saves on the season, currently sitting at 97.
For Eastern Michigan, four different Eagles scored two goals, with Stella Burke, Katheryn Wilson, Mackenzie Blackwell, and Emma Henry all scoring a pair of goals. Attacker Tracy Grollman led the team in assists with four. Goalkeeper Maddy Porter got the win in goal for Eastern Michigan, recording seven saves while allowing just three goals on the afternoon.
UP NEXT
RMU women's lacrosse currently sits at 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the MAC. The Colonials will finish the non-conference portion of their schedule with a road trip to Erie to take on Mercyhurst on Wednesday afternoon before closing out the regular season at home on Saturday against Detroit Mercy. Wednesday's contest is slated for a 5:00 p.m. start while Saturday will begin at 1:00 p.m.
