Five RMU Women's Lacrosse Players Named to All-MAC Teams; Berthoff First Team Selection

CLEVELAND – Five Colonials were selected for All-MAC honors, with sophomore Mia Berthoff being named to the All-MAC First Team to lead RMU, the Mid-American Conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Berthoff, a sophomore midfielder from Liverpool, New York, and last year's MAC Freshman of the Year, once again earned MAC honors, this time being selected to the All-MAC First Team after leading the Colonial offense this season. During the regular season, Berthoff led RMU in multiple offensive categories including goals (32), points (44), shots (73), shots percentage (.438), shots on goal (55) and shots on goal percentage (.753). This season, Berthoff has posted nine multi-goal games, with seven of them featuring three or more goals. Berthoff earned weekly honors this season as well from the MAC, being named the Offensive Player of the Week back on February 23 for her incredible performance in the Colonials thrilling win over Duquesne.
 
FIRED UP FRESHMAN
The Colonials had four freshmen named to the All-MAC Freshman Team, with Gabi Puzevic, Lea Otts, Lucy Carney, and Taylor Burkett all being selected to the 12-person team.

Puzevic, a midfielder from Mattawan, Michigan, is second on the Colonials in goals scored with 16 along with two assists and a total of 18 points on the season. On the season, Puzevic has had four multi-goal games and is second on the team in shots on goal, with 33 on the season.

Otts, an attacker from Baldwinsville, New York, has been the Colonials go-to in the assist department. The freshman has dished out a team high 26 assists as well as scoring 10 goals on the season. Otts is also second on the Colonials in points, posting 36 so far in her freshman campaign.

Carney, a goalkeeper from Newtown, Pennsylvania, has started in goal in 10 games for the Colonials this season, while making 14 appearances total. Carney has posted a 5-6 record in net, and has recorded over 100 saves in goal, totaling 111 going into the tournament. In the MAC, Carney is ranked fourth in the conference in save percentage (.451), fourth in saves per game (7.93), and fifth in goals against average (11.21). Carney was also named MAC Goalkeeper of the Week back on April 7.

Rounding out the Colonials selected to the All-MAC Freshman Team is midfielder/attacker Taylor Burkett (Perkasie, Pennsylvania). Across the stat sheet, Burkett has made an immediate impact for the Colonials, posting 10 goals, seven assists, 17 points, 15 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers in her freshman season.
