MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The RMU women's lacrosse team (3-8, 1-2 MAC) is heading on the road for a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Kent State Golden Flashes (6-5, 1-2 MAC). First draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials are looking to get back into the win column after dropping their last three contests. Last week the Colonials fell to #13 Notre Dame 20-2 on Tuesday night in South Bend, Indiana, before dropping an 18-6 decision to UMass at home on Saturday afternoon.
The six goals scored by the Colonials on Saturday were the most goals allowed by UMass in a conference matchup this season so far, as the Minutewomen had only allowed four total goals in their first two conference games.
Samantha Brothers and
Madison Prietz each had a pair of goals on the afternoon, while
Gabi Puzevic and
Taylor Burkett each found the back of the net to round out the goal scorers in Saturday's contest.
Burkett, a freshman from Perkasie, Pennsylvania, set a new season and career high with four assists and five points, along with her goal to provide the Colonials with an offensive spark. Burkett is third on the team in points (15) behind
Lea Otts (16) and
Mia Berthoff (29).
With her goal on Saturday, Puzevic has now extended her scoring streak to five games, with six goals over the last five contests. Puzevic is tied for second on the team in goals with Burkett, with nine on the season.
Mia Berthoff continues to lead the Colonials with 20 on the season.
RMU AND KENT STATE HISTORY
Saturday's matchup will be the 11
th between the teams since 2019, with RMU winning the all-time series 9-1. The Colonials will head to Kent as the winner of the last three matchups against the Golden Flashes. RMU is a perfect 5-0 on the road and is averaging 13.8 goals against Kent State. The last loss for the Colonials against the Golden Flashes came back on April 5, 2023, as RMU lost a 13-10 decision at home.
LAST DRAW
The last meeting between the two was an absolute thriller with the Colonials pulling out an 8-7 win in triple overtime at Joe Walton.
Taylor Cadeau played hero in the win, ripping a shot past the keeper with 1:27 left in the third overtime to send the Colonials home with the victory. Other current Colonials to score in the contest were

SCOUTING KENT STATE
Kent State will defend Dix Stadium with a 6-5 overall record and a 1-2 conference record. The Golden Flashes are winners of their last two, beating San Diego State 11-10 on March 20 and picking up an 8-4 conference win over Youngstown State last Saturday.
The Golden Flashes are ranked fourth in the conference in goals per game with an average of 8.55. Zayda Crumpton has led the offensive attack for Kent State, scoring a team-high 25 goals on the season. Crumpton is ranked eighth in the conference for goals per game with an average of 2.27. She also leads the Golden Flashes in assists (13) and points (38).
In goal, Sydney Davis has handled most of the heavy work for the Golden Flashes, starting all 11 games in net. Davis has a 5-4 record in net and has allowed 101 goals while recording 107 saves on the season in nearly 650 minutes played. Gabi Buckenberger has come in to relieve Davis in two contests, allowing three goals while recording three saves.
