RMU Women's Hockey Adds Mia Del Rosso to Coaching Staff

6/2/2026 11:15:00 AM

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey program is proud to announce the hiring of Mia Del Rosso as an Assistant Coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Del Rosso arrives in Moon Township after spending the last five seasons as an assistant coach at Trinity College, where she played a key role in player development and special teams. She will work primarily with RMU's defensive corps while also assisting in several areas of the program's day-to-day operations.

"We can't wait for Mia to get started here at Bobby Mo," said RMU Head Coach Logan Bittle. "We know she'll fit right into our culture and make a huge impact. Along with working with our blue liners, she'll provide significant help to our group. She has a great hockey mind, brings valuable coaching experience and is someone our student-athletes will really enjoy learning from."

A native of Hingham, Mass., Del Rosso spent five seasons with the Bantams, coaching the team's defense while also overseeing the penalty-kill unit. Working on a smaller coaching staff allowed her to gain experience in several facets of the program.

"On a smaller staff, I helped run the D core in games and worked on line management," Del Rosso said. "In my second year, I was given full responsibility of the penalty-kill, and that was one of the areas Logan and Liam were looking for. I'm excited to bring that experience to RMU."

Before entering the coaching ranks, Del Rosso was a standout student-athlete at Amherst College, where she competed for three seasons in the highly competitive NESCAC. During her junior campaign in 2018-19, she helped Amherst capture a conference championship.

In addition to her collegiate experience, Del Rosso was selected to train in the Chinese Ice Hockey Association's women's national development program ahead of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. She worked with the CIHA at multiple training camps and played under the KRS-Vanke Rays, led by Bob Deraney and then Brian Idalski, which provided her with valuable international experience at the highest levels of the sport.

"I'm really excited to join Logan, Liam, the team and RMU Athletics," Del Rosso said. "This is a program with a strong tradition and a bright future. I want to help get this program back to the top of the conference and compete on the national stage."

Her addition comes as the Colonials continue to build momentum heading into the 2026-27 season. RMU returns a talented core from last year's squad and continues to strengthen its foundation both on and off the ice.

"Mia will hit the ground running this summer," Bittle added. "We're not just adding a coach with great experience, we're adding a great person. She'll be an outstanding member of the Colonial Hockey family, and we're excited to see the impact she'll have on our program."
