LEXINGTON, KY -  The RMU women's volleyball program has once again been recognized for its success in the classroom, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 10th straight year.

The AVCA Team Academic Award honors volleyball programs that maintain a year-long team grade point average of at least 3.30 while demonstrating excellence both academically and athletically. The award celebrates collegiate and high school teams that set a strong standard for academic achievement.

The recognition highlights the commitment of the Colonials' student-athletes to academic excellence and reflects the culture built within the program by head coach Danny Doherty and his staff.

RMU has consistently been recognized by the AVCA for its academic accomplishments, continuing a tradition of success that has become a hallmark of the program.

The AVCA annually recognizes programs across all collegiate divisions that achieve the required cumulative team GPA, honoring the dedication of student-athletes, coaches and academic support staff throughout the academic year.

The Colonials finished out the 2025-26 academic year with a team GPA of 3.69.
