Colonials Fall to Navy in Season Opener

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The RMU women's soccer team opened the 2026 season on Wednesday afternoon, falling 4-0 to Navy at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The Colonials drop to 0-1 on the season.

FIRST HALF
After each side registered a shot in the opening five minutes, Navy broke through in the 18th minute.

Jessica Black converted a penalty kick, placing her attempt into the bottom-right corner to give the Midshipmen a 1-0 advantage.

Navy controlled possession for much of the remainder of the opening half, recording four more shots, including one that struck the post. Despite the pressure, the Colonials limited the damage and trailed by just one goal heading into halftime.

SECOND HALF
RMU generated its best scoring opportunity shortly after the restart. Madison Sievering broke in alone on goal, but her breakaway attempt was denied keeping the Colonials off the scoreboard.

The Midshipmen doubled their lead moments later before the Colonials were issued a red card, forcing RMU to play the remainder of the match with 10 players.

Following a save on the ensuing free kick, Navy capitalized on the rebound to make it 3-0. Clara Jane Williams added the final goal with 20 seconds remaining, heading home a cross to secure the 4-0 victory.
