BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green scored twice in the final 15 minutes to defeat RMU, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Cochrane Stadium. The Colonials fall to 0-2 to begin the 2026 campaign.
FIRST HALF
Just three minutes into the contest, the Falcons nearly opened the scoring when Lizzie Bultynck's shot hit the pipe. RMU then recorded its first quality chance in the 10th minute, as
Ava Trethewey's shot was saved by the Bowling Green goalkeeper.
In the 13th minute, Bowling Green nearly broke through off a corner kick, but
Sophia Cucchetti was in the right place at the right time, making a save on the goal line to keep the match scoreless.
Moments later, Cucchetti took a shot from distance, but the Bowling Green goalkeeper tipped it over the crossbar to keep the game deadlocked.
SECOND HALF
Ten minutes into the second half, Trethewey nearly put the Colonials ahead once again, but her shot was denied. It would be RMU's final shot on goal of the afternoon.
In the 76th minute, Bowling Green finally capitalized as Isabella Mazzaferro scored off a cross to give the Falcons a 1-0 advantage.
With less than two minutes remaining, Taylor Green found the back of the net to give Bowling Green a 2-0 lead and secure the victory.

COLONIAL FIRSTS
Freshman goalkeeper
Kally Prescott made her first career start in Sunday's contest. The Knightdale, N.C., native recorded four saves.
Sophomore
Sydney Chontos also made her season debut, playing for eight minutes.

RMU will wrap up its three-game road trip Thursday, August 20, when the Colonials travel to Buffalo, N.Y., to face Canisius at 1:00 PM.
