8/19/2026 12:00:00 PM

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's soccer team will begin its 2026 campaign at home, hosting Drexel in a non-conference matchup Thursday, August 20 at 4:00 PM at the North Athletic Complex. Live stats will be available for the match.

2025 SEASON IN REVIEW
The Colonials finished the 2025 campaign with a 6-4-7 overall record and went 3-1-5 in Horizon League play, earning the No. 5 seed in the conference championship. RMU defeated Milwaukee, 2-1, in the quarterfinal round behind two goals from Anass Hadran and a penalty-kick save from Josh Lane. The Colonials ultimately fell to Cleveland State, 2-0, in the semifinals.

KEY RETURNERS
RMU returns starting goalkeeper Josh Lane for his senior season. One of the most accomplished goalkeepers in program history, Lane has earned All-League honors in each of the last two seasons while also being named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team. In 2024, he helped lead the Colonials to their first Horizon League Championship, recording two shutouts during the postseason. Lane was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Third Team.

Riley Cotton returns after a strong rookie campaign in which he scored one goal and added three assists. Junior Miguel Dominguez enters the season in a leadership role, helping anchor the Colonials' backline. RMU will also be bolstered by senior midfielders Storm Johansen and Tayshaun Reid.

NEWCOMERS
The Colonials welcome 18 newcomers to the program this season, with nine freshmen and nine transfers joining the roster.

Among the transfers is junior midfielder Giovanni Dennis, who spent his first two collegiate seasons at UConn. Up front, Anelson Azard joined the Colonials this past spring after a standout career at Tiffin. Azard was twice named to the All-G-MAC Team and earned United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region First Team honors in 2024.

Of the nine freshmen joining the program, three are local players from the WPIAL in Brady Eubanks, Mason Bizyak and Sam Wessel. Three international players – Jonah Geike, Joaquin Fazal and Alessandro Camatta – also join the Colonials, while Aiden Bernklau-Wostl, Ian Thomas and Bryan Sam come to RMU from different areas across the country.

YEAR FOUR FOR POTTER
Head Coach Jonathan Potter enters his fourth season leading the program alongside Assistant Coach Abraham Lopez-Mendoza. Across their first three seasons at the helm, the duo has guided the Colonials to a 20-17-15 overall record, including the 2024 Horizon League Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Under Potter, RMU has been particularly difficult to defeat at home. The Colonials are 12-4-7 at the North Athletic Complex and finished the 2025 season undefeated at home with a 3-0-3 record.

ALL-TIME VS. DREXEL
Nearly 30 years have passed since RMU and Drexel last met on the pitch. The most recent matchup came in 1997, when the two programs battled to a 1-1 draw. One year earlier, in 1996, the Colonials hosted the Dragons and earned a 4-0 victory.

SCOUTING THE DRAGONS
Drexel was selected to finish fourth in the North Division in the CAA Preseason Poll. Junior midfielder Morgan Worsfold-Gregg was named to the Preseason All-CAA Team after leading the Dragons in assists with five last season while tying for the team lead with three goals. Graduate midfielder Julian Pittaoulis and senior midfielder Tiago Lima-Bittencourt both earned honorable mentions to the Preseason All-CAA Team.

The Dragons finished the 2025 campaign with a 4-6-6 overall record and went 2-5-1 in conference play. Drexel posted a 3-3-2 record at home, went 1-2-3 on the road and finished 0-1-1 at neutral sites.
