BUFFALO, N.Y. – With under three minutes remaining in the match,
Callum Doyle-Travers scored the game-winning goal to lift RMU to a 1-0 victory over Canisius and secure the Colonials' first win of the 2026 season. RMU improves to 1-1 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither side was able to gain much traction offensively through the opening 45 minutes, as each team recorded just one shot on goal.
Canisius' Kerby Henao was issued a yellow card in the 23rd minute.
About halfway through the second half, play was paused due to a lightning delay.
After returning to the pitch, RMU generated three shots and earned two corner kick opportunities but was unable to break through. Shortly after play resumed, another lightning delay forced a second stoppage.
The Colonials returned to the field to play the final 14 minutes without interruption and continued to apply pressure in search of the game-winning goal.
Following an RMU corner kick that was cleared by the Golden Griffins,
Matthew Eckersall sent the ball back into the offensive end.
Miguel Dominguez flicked a header toward Doyle-Travers, who took a touch before beating the Canisius goalkeeper with a well-placed shot to give RMU a 1-0 lead.
The Colonials held strong over the final three minutes, not allowing another shot to secure the 1-0 victory.

Filip Jeppesen made his RMU debut against the Golden Griffins. The Hjørring, Denmark native played 29 minutes.
CENTER BACK CONNECTION
It's not every day that one center back assists another on a game-winning goal, but that was the case for RMU on Saturday. Dominguez recorded his first career assist, while Doyle-Travers netted his first career goal to give the Colonials the victory.
SHUTOUT WIN
RMU's first victory of the season came via a shutout. Goalkeeper
Josh Lane recorded his 17th career victory in net and his 13th career shutout.
