RMU STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (March 26, 2008)
Tabbed the latest RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week is senior Jeff Witmyer of the men's outdoor track and field team. A native of West Lawn, Pa., Witmyer wasted no time getting his senior season off to a good start in the high jump in RMU's opening meet of the 2008 outdoor season, taking home the individual title in the event at the Wake Forest Open, March 21-22. Witmyer posted a leap of 6'9.50" to qualify for the IC4A / ECAC Championships, and his tally was just three meters shy of qualifying for the NCAA East Regional in the high jump. The award marks Witmyer's second RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor, as he also took one home during the 2007-08 indoor campaign.
