RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (12/2/09)
Honored with the first RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week accolade of her career is freshman forward Vega Gimeno-Martinez of the basketball team. She earns the honor after being tabbed the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week (11/30/09) thanks to a game-high 24 points in her second career start in a 67-58 victory over Coppin State (11/28/09) at the Charles L. Sewall Center. Gimeno-Martinez, a native of Valencia, Spain, converted six of her seven shots from the floor while adding four rebounds and three blocked shots in the victory. She also added six points, five boards and a block in 28 minutes off the bench in a four-point loss @ Wright State (11/25/). Gimeno-Martinez is an environmental science major.
