Renewal, Non-Renewal, and Reduction of Aid Awards

ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY, OFFICE OF ATHLETIC COMPLIANCE

Renewal, Non-Renewal, and Reduction of Aid Awards

In the spring term of each academic year, Head Coaches identify continuing student-athletes whose athletic aid will be renewed, not renewed, or reduced for the upcoming academic year. The Head Coach then prepares either an Athletic Scholarship Renewal Form for renewal, or a Nonrenewal/Reduction Form for EVERY student-athlete who either received athletic aid in the last year, or expects to receive athletic aid in the coming year.

Procedures for awarding or removing athletic aid for continuing students are similar to those for initial awards, with the following timetable:

  • All Renewal or Non-Renewal/Reduction forms must be submitted by all coaches to the Office of Athletic Compliance for review no later than April 15 (spring sports May 15).
  • A list of all students being renewed, those not renewed or those to be reduced are submitted by the Assistant Director of Compliance to the Director of Financial Aid by May 1 (spring sports June 1).
  • Upon approval by the Director of Financial Aid, an official letter awarding or removing the athletics aid will be sent by the Office of Financial Aid in time for the student-athlete to receive it before July 1, per Bylaw 15.3.5.1.
  • The Office of Athletic Compliance will generate ATHLETIC GRANT-IN-AID/SCHOLARSHIP AGREEMENTS for all individuals receiving athletic aid in the upcoming year for signature prior to the end of the summer term.
  • All student-athletes who fail to sign their agreements before leaving for summer vacation will be mailed the agreement with instructions to return it to the Office of Athletic Compliance
  • All continuing student-athletes receiving any athletic aid for the upcoming year must sign their ATHLETIC GRANT-IN-AID/SCHOLARSHIP AGREEMENT and return it to the Office of Athletic Compliance prior to receiving their funds for the fall term.
