RMU Student-Athlete of
the Week (10/5/11)

Thanks to a dominant weekend
on the court, junior outside hitter Lindsey Monger
of the volleyball squad is the recipient of her second RMU Female
Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the 2011 fall campaign. A native of Rising
Sun, Md., and a communication major, Monger led the Colonials to a pair of
victories last week in Northeast Conference action, compiling 44 kills and 31
digs while posting an attack percentage of .316 in wins over in-state rival
Saint Francis (Pa.) (9/28) and Fairleigh Dickinson (10/1). In a 3-0 sweep of the
Red Flash, Monger finished with 23 kills and 10 digs while hitting .425, then
recorded 21 kills and 21 digs in a 3-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. Her
performance against the Knights helped her become the first Colonial since 2004
to eclipse both 20 kills and 20 digs in the same match. For her efforts Monger
was tabbed the Molten/NEC Player of the Week (10/3), the second weekly
honor from the NEC in her career. On the 2011 campaign Monger leads the
Colonials in kills (214) while ranking second on the squad in digs (187).
