RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (3/16/11)

Earning the latest RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor is senior Annie Dubovec of the softball squad. The reigning Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in softball, Dubovec was magnificent for the Colonials in the circle last week during their annual spring break trip to Florida. In four games, Dubovec posted an ERA of 1.09, striking out 12 and walking just four while holding opponents to a batting average of .186. In a 3-0 victory over South Dakota (3/9/11) in Kissimmee, Fla., Dubovec notched her fifth career shutout by allowing just five hits while striking out three. She also came on in relief against No. 1 Florida (3/11/11) in Clearwater, Fla., holding the Gators to no runs on just one hit while striking out three. For those efforts Dubovec was tabbed the NEC Co-Pitcher of the Week (3/14/11). On the 2011 campaign Dubovec is 2-2 in the circle with an ERA of 1.79 while leading Robert Morris in batting average (.370), hits (20), doubles (3) and home runs (2). She also owns a team-high slugging percentage of .574 and ranks seconds for the Colonials in RBI with 10. A native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Dubovec is a mathematics major.
