Nicole Sleith

RMU Student-Athlete of the Week (4/3/13)

Sophomore Nicole Sleith of the softball squad earns her second RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week accolade of the 2013 spring season and sixth over her career thanks to stellar performances in the pitching circle over the last week. In a 5-0 win over Mount St. Mary’s (3/29/13) in RMU's 2013 Northeast Conference season opener, Sleith twirled her first collegiate no hitter, becoming the fifth player in school history to accomplish the feat. She struck out 12 in the victory and yielded just one free pass in facing just one batter over the minimum. Sleith also helped the Colonials sweep the Mount in the nightcap, pitching three innings of one-hit ball in relief while striking out seven in earning her eighth win of the 2013 season. For her efforts, Sleith was tabbed the NEC Co-Pitcher of the Week (4/1/13) for the third time this year. Sleith, a native of Smithton, Pa., also picked up a pair of saves Wednesday afternoon as RMU took a pair of games from crosstown rival Pittsburgh (4/3/13), 4-0 and 6-1. She earned her third save of the season in game one, striking out six and allowing just one hit in three innings of work. In the second game, Sleith again came on in relief, pitching two innings and allowing just one hit in notching her fourth save of the year. On the 2013 campaign, Sleith is 8-4 from the circle with a 1.85 earned run average (ERA), having struck out 108 in 79.2 innings of work while yielding just 19 walks.
