Redshirt senior forward Brittany Howard registers five points in a 6-2 victory at Minnesota State and in the process becomes the all-time leading scorer for the Robert Morris women's ice hockey program. Howard notched a hat trick and added two assists for the Colonials and eclipsed Rebecca Vint (2011-14) in the career record book. In 109 career games, Howard has scored 138 points, an average of 1.27 points per contest.

In the inaugural Division I sporting event at the student recreation and fitness center at the North Athletic Complex, the RMU volleyball team earns a 3-0 victory over Sacred Heart. A balanced attack offensively, the Colonials posted a .259 attack percantage as a team. Junior Taylor Lord finished with a team-high eight kills and a .350 attack percentage while freshman middle blocker recorded with seven kills and a .455 attack percentage.

September 16, 2017

In the final NCAA Division I event held at the Charles L. Sewall Center, the RMU volleyball team earns its first victory in program history over a Big 10 program with a 3-0 sweep of Rutgers. The Colonials post wins over 25-20, 25-20 and 25-21 and join the Robert Morris men's and women's basketball programs to earn a victory in its final contest in the 32-year old building. Freshmen Emma Granger, Alyson Londot and Maria Alfano combined for 32 kills and a .366 attack percentage against the Scarlet Knights.

Freshman golfer Max Palmer is named the 2017 NEC Rookie of the Year in a vote of the conference's head coaches. Palmer becomes the first player in program history to earn Rookie of the Year honors and just the fourth men's golfer under Jerry Stone's tenure to win a major award. Additionally, Palmer was selected to the All-NEC Second Team along with teammate Daniel Franco Saad.

Freshman midfield Annie Sachs is named the 2017 Northeast Conference Midfielder of the Year as well as the 2017 NEC Rookie of the Year in a vote of league head coaches. She is the first member of the Colonials to earn a major award in program history. In addition, Sachs earns a spot on the 2017 All-NEC First Team and the 2017 All-NEC Rookie Team.

In a vote of Northeast Conference head coaches, freshman attack Ryan Smith is named the 2017 NEC Rookie of the Year, the first member of the Colonials in program history to garner the honor. Head coach Andrew McMinn, meanwhile, is tabbed 2017 NEC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career.

In RMU's regular-season finale at Sacred Heart, freshman midfield Annie Sachs breaks a pair of single-season school records. She scores two goals against the Pioneers to push her season totals to 47 goals and 73 points, establishing new records in both categories.

Another meet, another record for senior Rachel Boody. In the discus at the Red Flash Open, Boody finishes with a distance of 49.08 meters (161'0") to extend her own school record for the third consecutive meet and claim gold. The senior on the RMU outdoor track & field squad now owns five of the top seven marks in school history in the event.

For the second consecutive meet, senior Rachel Boody of the RMU outdoor track & field team breaks her own school mark in the discus, posting a heave of 48.08 meters (157'9") to win gold in the event at the JMU Invite. 

April 18, 2017
Robert Morris, in conjunction with VisitPittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL), is selected by the NCAA Division I men's ice hockey committee to host the NCAA Frozen Four at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa. It marks the second time RMU has been selected as host. In April of 2013, Yale defeated Quinnipiac, 4-0, to claim its first national championship in ice hockey at CONSOL Energy Center.

In a 22-13 victory over Saint Francis U at Joe Walton Stadium that improved RMU's record to a perfect 3-0 in the Northeast Conference, sophomore midfielder Kerri Sayrafe of the lacrosse team establishes an RMU single-game record for goals with eight. She scored five goals in a 9-2 run that helped the Colonials open up a 16-8 lead over the Red Flash.

Senior Rachel Boody of the RMU outdoor track & field team breaks her own school record in the discus at the Mason Spring Invite, posting a toss of 47.88 meters (157’1”) to claim bronze. Boody now owns three of the top five distances in program history in the event.

Senior Jordan Gurganus goes 4-for-8 at the plate in a two-game sweep of Bryant in Smithfield, R.I., and in the process becomes the all-time hits leader for the Robert Morris softball program. Gurganus hit a line-drive single to center field on the first pitch she saw in the fifth inning of game one of the doubleheader to collect career hit No. 220, surpassing former shortstop Jill Spargo (2004-07) for the new career record. Gurganus finished the afternoon with 222 career hits.

March 25, 2017
The Robert Morris women's lacrosse program closes out the non-conference portion of its 2017 schedule with a 17-6 victory over Duquesne at Joe Walton Stadium, the program's first win over the Dukes in school history. Junior Dana Davis leads the Colonials with four goals while also collecting five ground balls, while sophomore Maggie Stella and freshman Annie Sachs each scored three goals.

March 12, 2017
In the final game ever at the Charles L. Sewall Center, the Robert Morris women’s basketball team earns a 65-52 victory over  Bryant in the championship game of the 2017 Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament. It marked the second consecutive automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament for the Colonials and third in the last four years. Senior guard Anna Niki Stamolamprou is named the 2017 NEC Tournament MVP, becoming the sixth student-athlete in NEC history to be named both the NEC Player of the Year and NEC Tournament MVP in the same year.

The RMU men’s hockey team posts a 3-2 victory over Holy Cross at 84 Lumber Arena to advance to the semifinals of the 2017 Atlantic Hockey Tournament in Rochester, N.Y., at Blue Cross Arena. The win marked the 88th for the 2017 seniors, the most by a class in program history. The group of seniors includes Dalton Izyk, Daniel Leavens, Rob Mann and Ben Robillard.

Senior netminder Jessica Dodds records just the second shutout in the history of the final of the College Hockey America (CHA) tournament as the Robert Morris women’s hockey team earns a 2-0 victory over Syracuse at the HARBORCENTER in Buffalo, N.Y. Dodds was tabbed Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament as she helped the Colonials claim their first NCAA Tournament berth in program history.

Freshman forward Jaycee Gebhard of the Robert Morris women’s hockey program posts an assist in a 2-1 victory over Lindenwood in the semifinals of the 2017 College Hockey America (CHA) Tournament, helping her establish a new RMU freshman record for points. She concluded the season with 46, which ranked second for the Colonials.

Senior guard Anna Niki Stamolamprou of the RMU women’s basketball team is named the 2017 Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year in a vote of league head coaches, while Charlie Buscaglia, in his first season as the helm of the Colonials, is tabbed the 2017 NEC Brenda Reilly Coach of the Year.

Redshirt junior forward Brittany Howard of the RMU women’s hockey team was tabbed the 2017 College Hockey America (CHA) Player of the Year, freshman forward Jaycee Gebhard was named the 2017 CHA Rookie of the Year and Paul Colontino was selected as the 2017 CHA Coach of the Year.

In its final game at the Charles L. Sewall Center, sophomore guard Isaiah Still scores 23 of his career-high 28 points in the second half to lift the Robert Morris men’s basketball team to a 79-72 victory over Sacred Heart. In 32 seasons at the Sewall Center, the Colonials posted a record of 278-149 (.651).

Senior forward Daniel Leavens records a goal and two assists in a 6-2 victory at Niagara to become the 10th player in Robert Morris men’s hockey history to eclipse 100 career points.

The 26th annual class of inductees into the Robert Morris University Athletic Hall of Fame is inducted at the third annual RMU Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport. The Class of 2016 included Jason Hempstead (football and track & field; 1999-2003), Maria Kirkland (volleyball; 1982-85), Tyjuan Massey (football; 2002-05), C.G. Mercatoris (men’s golf; 2007-11), Myles Russ (football; 2007-10) and Jill Spargo (softball; 2004-07).

Senior Rachel Boody and sophomore Lilly Harnish each claim Northeast Conference individual titles in the first day of competition at the 2017 NEC indoor track & field championships on Staten Island, N.Y., at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Boody finished first in the weight throw with a toss of 16.83 meters (55’2.75”), while Harnish takes gold in the high jump thanks to a mark of 1.59 meters (5’2.50”).

Redshirt senior forward Aaron Tate of the RMU men’s basketball team posts 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for his second career double-double at Bryant. Thanks to his offensive carom at the 8:36 mark of the second half, Tate became the 18th member of the Robert Morris 500-Rebound Club.

In a 5-2 victory over RIT at 84 Lumber Arena, redshirt junior forward Brittany Howard of the RMU women’s hockey team finishes with a goal and an assist, pushing her season point total to 45, establishing a new Robert Morris single-season record. She would conclude the 2016-17 campaign with 50 points.

In just her second collegiate meet, freshman Lauryn McKinley of the Robert Morris indoor track & field squad establishes a school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.85 seconds at the SPIRE Midwest Invitational in Geneva, Ohio.

Senior goaltender Dalton Izyk turns away 25 shots to help the Colonials earn a 6-0 victory at Holy Cross. Izyk’s shutout helps the RMU’s men’s hockey program became the first team in NCAA Division I since 2011-12 to have three different goalies blank an opponent in the same season. Freshman Francis Marotte and junior Andrew Pikul also posted shutouts for Robert Morris in 2016-17.

Robert Morris University announces it will break ground in July on the UPMC Events Center, a 140,000-square foot complex for the men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball programs, which will play in Peoples Court. The UPMC Events Center is the main part of a $50 million project that also includes a student recreation and fitness center on RMU’s Moon Township campus.
