Bryan Delsite was named RMU women's cross country and track & field head coach June 17, 2020.
Delsite has overseen a transformation with the track & field programs and has also overseen the reintroduction of men's cross country at RMU. For track & field, Delsite's tutelage with the sprinters and jumpers during his tenure has witnessed a number of school records fall in three years.
Former Colonial Tara Gologram (2019-23) concluded a stellar career at RMU, with Delsite instrumental in her development. Gologram established both indoor and outdoor school marks in the long jump, recorded the best time in program history for indoor track & field in the 60-meter dash and was also part of a pair of relay (4x100 and 4x200) squads that set RMU standards during the outdoor season. Gologram was a two-time All-Horizon League performer, claiming second team accolades in 2023 for both indoor and outdoor track & field in the long jump.
Elsewhere in the sprints, outdoor records have fallen under Delsite in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dash. Elicia Moore owns the top times in the 200-meter and 400-meter, while Maddie Raymond established the top mark in the 100-meter dash. Gologram and Raymond also teamed with Garcie Parker and Hannah McDanel to dominate the RMU performance lists in the 4x100-meter relay, as the quartet own four of the top five times in program history.
“This is a transformational day for RMU cross country and track & field,” Vice President and DIrector of Athletics Chris King said at the time of his hiring in 2020. “Selecting Bryan Delsite as our new head coach sets the course for a new era of success in all phases of our program. He brings a record of success and experience as a four-time conference coach of the year and a former collegiate, national and international track champion himself. His extensive experience and success will maximize the potential of this program in short order, as he has demonstrated the ability to recruit and develop student-athletes to perform at the highest level. As a former RMU assistant coach and graduate student, we welcome Bryan and his wife, Jennifer, and three children, Benjamin, Lydia and Sarah, to the RMU family.”
Delsite, a native of Elysburg, Pa., spent seven years in Lewisburg, Pa., as an assistant coach at Bucknell University from 2013 to 2020 before taking over the Colonials. While on the staff with the Bison, he coached the vertical and horizontal jumps and multi-event student-athletes as well as select sprinters while assisting in scheduling and recruiting. He coach 34 All-Patriot League performers during his time at Bucknell, including eight women in indoor track & field and six in outdoor track & field.
Between 2014 and 2019, Delsite helped Bucknell claim five Patriot League cross country championships, three indoor track & field championships and three outdoor track & field titles. Delsite tutored three Patriot League Field Athletes of the Meet, two Patriot League Rookies of the Year, a pair of IC4A/ECAC individual champions and six student-athletes that qualified for the first round of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. In addition, two of his student-athletes own Patriot League records, including the men’s pole vault and the women’s triple jump.
“I’m extremely excited to become the next head of the Robert Morris women’s cross country and track & field programs,” Delsite said. “I want to thank Vice President and Director of Athletics Chris King for providing me with this tremendous opportunity. I would also like to thank the entire search committee and everyone at RMU that was part of this process. I am so impressed by the vision that Chris has for the track & field and cross country programs as well as the entire department of athletics. We share the same values regarding student-athlete welfare, commitment to diversity and academic excellence and I’m excited to help create a program that the university and community will be proud to support.”
Prior to his stint at Bucknell, Delsite served as the head men’s and women’s cross country and track & field coach at Duquesne from 1998 to 2013. During his tenure, Delsite was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year four times, including in 2002 and 2005 for the women and 2004 and 2005 for the men. While head coach at Duquesne, the Dukes established every school record in indoor and outdoor track & field in both genders as well as scored the most points in school history at the Atlantic 10 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Student-athletes that were recruited and coached by Delsite at Duquesne produced 83 all-conference performers, including 30 that were crowned Atlantic 10 champions. He also coached the school first NCAA qualifier and All-American. Delsite also qualified for the USATF outdoor national championships in both 1993 and 1994 as well as the 1994 USATF indoor national championships.
From 1994 to 1996, Delsite served as an assistant coach with the Robert Morris track & field program under Hall of Fame Coach Bill Hodge while also serving as a graduate assistant in compliance and student services under Tom Olson. He earned a Master of Science degree from Robert Morris in 1996.
