Men?s Hockey Grounded By Air Force, 4-3

Colorado Springs, Colo. / Cadet Arena - Air Force ended a six-game losing streak to the Robert Morris University men's hockey team with a come-from-behind 4-3 victory at Cadet Arena Sunday afternoon. Robert Morris, now 4-8-0 on the season, had won six straight games in the series and were 3-1 all-time at Cadet Arena before watching a 3-2 third period lead disappear in the game's final eight minutes.

After falling behind in the first period on Billy Devoney's third goal of the season, Robert Morris stormed ahead with three-goals in the second period, including a pair of power play markers.

Junior Jake Sparks (Evergreen, Colo. / Central Texas Blackhawks) first of the season came on the power play and tied the game 3:04 into the middle frame. Junior Logan Bittle (Peoria, Ill. / Soo Indians) and senior Doug Conley (East Amherst, N.Y. / Tri-City Storm) picked up the assists.

Theo Zacour regained the one-goal margin for the host Falcons with a 5-on-3 power play goal following a pair of penalties to the Colonials Chris Margott (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Bay State Breakers). Zacour took advantage for his second goal of the year.

Junior Ryan Cruthers (Farmingdale, N.Y. / Army) again tied the game with an unassisted score at 12:46 of the frame. The Colonials then took the lead at 17:16, once again on the power play. Junior defenseman Chris Kaufman (Gig Harbor, Wash. / Helena Bighorns) tallied his first goal of the year on assists from senior Aaron Clarke (Peterborough, Ontario / Niagara University) and Cruthers.

The final period, however, belonged to Air Force. Josh Print's second goal of the year tied the game at 12:12 of the period. Brian Reese then scored an unassisted goal with 1:18 left in regulation to give the Falcons the win. RMU skated the last 1:15 without a goaltender, but couldn't tie the game.

Robert Morris junior goaltender Christian Boucher (Orleans, Ontario / Cumberland Grads) had another busy night facing 42 shots for the second straight game. He finished with 38 saves after stopping 37 shots in a loss to Denver Saturday night. Ian Harper picked up the win for Air Force with 10 saves, coming in midway through the second period to replace Andrew Volkening who had nine saves and two goals against.

The Colonials return to their College Hockey America schedule, traveling to Alabama-Huntsville for a two-game series Dec. 9 and 10.
