St. Cloud, Minn. - The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team opened up their season with a 4-0 loss to nationally ranked St. Cloud State University Friday night. This was the first test for new head coach Nate Handrahan.
"I felt we matched up very well tonight," said Handrahan. "In the end there experience took over the game."
St. Cloud State (1-0-0) was held scoreless going into the second period until Senior Jacqueline Jensen found the back of the net at the 5:07 mark She was one of four different Huskies to score in the game. Sophomore Michelle Moen added a goal with 5:32 left in the second period, while Freshmen Katie Kemmerer and Holly Roberts both contributed goals in the third period.
St. Cloud State held the advantage in shots 40-20. Sophomore Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield, Oh. / Ohio Flames) suffered the loss in net for the Colonials making 36 saves on the night.
Robert Morris (0-1-0) will complete its two-game series against St. Cloud State on Saturday September 30 at 3:07 p.m. eastern.
