Box Score Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team fell in their 2007 season finale to the #19-ranked Delaware Blue Hens, 19-4, at Joe Walton Stadium this afternoon.
Senior Carlo Sunseri (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) played in his final game as a Colonial, tallying two goals to finish his career on a 18-game point streak. The senior produced 46 goals and 18 assists for 64 points in his three-year tenure at Robert Morris.
Junior Andrew Watt (Kitchener, Ont. / Grand River Collegiate) registered the two goals as well for the home team finishing his season with 22 goals and eight assists for 30 points.
Freshmen Pat Britton (Germantown, Md. / Seneca Valley) and Tom Kingsmore (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) picked up assists in the game.
In the midst of overcast and rain, the Delaware Blue Hens made the Colonials feel miserable as they produced runs of four and six goals in the first half en route to a 12-2 lead going into halftime. Andrew Watt provided Robert Morris with both goals in the first 30 minutes. His first evened the game at 1-1 on a man down opportunity while his second showed off a little bit of flash as he buried a shot from behind his back.
In the second half, the Delaware offense slowed down a bit as the Blue Hens scored four goals in the third and three in the fourth. Just as in the first frame, Robert Morris saw two goals come from one player as Carlo Sunseri scored his final goals as a member of the men's lacrosse team in the third and fourth quarter.
Junior Jason Dockum (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon), Freshman Sal Barcia (West Islip, N.Y. / West Islip), Junior John Kennedy (Rockville Centre, N.Y. / South Side) and Freshman Dan MacNeil (Troy, Mich. / Troy-Athens) all saw time in net for Robert Morris. Dockum played 26:04 with five saves while Barcia picked up three saves in 18:56. Kennedy took care of 13:45 in the fourth quarter with one save while MacNeil stepped into to finish out the game's 1:15.
The Blue Hens out shot the Colonials, 43-15, while winning the ground ball battle, 30-7. Delaware's Alex Smith dominated the face-off circle, winning 23 of the teams 24 decisions. RMU won three of the 27 chances.
The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team capped off their best season yet marking a 3-9 record overall in only their third season as a varsity program.
