Princess Anne, Md. ? The Robert Morris University volleyball team closed out the Maryland-Eastern Shore Tournament Saturday afternoon with a pair of losses to Delaware State, 3-1 (24-30, 20-30, 30-25, 27-30) and tournament host Maryland-Eastern Shore, 3-1 (31-29, 17-30, 22-30, 22-30) Saturday afternoon. With the set of losses, the Colonials saw their six-game winning-streak snapped and now stand at 10-6 on the season.
In the first match of the afternoon, RMU quickly fell down 2-0 against Delaware State, before rallying to win game three, before losing the match in game four. Amanda Graham (Melbourne, Fla. / Eau Gallie) totaled a match high and career high 20 kills, along with four total blocks and one service ace.
Senior's Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) and Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) both tallied double-doubles for the Colonials. Wolthuis tallied 17 digs and 10 kills, while Storino finished with 44 assists and 10 digs. Storino also tallied four service aces.
Cassie Lee (Vista, Calif. / Vista) also tallied double-digit kills with 13. She also finished with three digs and two block assists. Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) chipped in 17 digs and two service aces.
In match two of the day, the Colonials jumped to a 1-0 lead, before dropping three straight games and the match. Wolthuis tallied her second double-double of the day with 15 kills and 10 digs, while Graham also tallied 15 kills.
Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) tallied 12 kills, six digs, three service aces and one assist, while Storino dished out 35 assists, along with nine digs, two service aces and one block assist.
The Colonials return to action Wednesday, October 3 when they host Big East opponent West Virginia. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
